Pet food causes alarm
March 21 (UNION-TRIBUNE): Some local pet owners are reeling from the thought that they might have unknowingly contributed to their pets’ illnesses and deaths by feeding them food that’s now under a nationwide recall. The food is believed to cause kidney failure. Jean Murrell, 82, lost a cat Jan. 31 and had no idea what could have been the problem.
More coyotes sighted
State and local wildlife officials have been fielding a lot of telephone calls recently because out in the field the main urban predator, the coyote, has been out and about a lot. This is the end of the coyote breeding season and the animals are more likely to be out during the daylight hours. Recent sightings have been reported in Lake Forest, Long Grove, Libertyville and Waukegan.
